Market opening hours

The London market opens at 08:00 and closes at 16:30 (GMT) Monday - Friday, except public holidays. Outside of these hours the market is closed, and requests for prices will display "closed" in the Bid/Ask area, and the Closing Price and Mid Price area. Strictly speaking there is no formal "opening price".

Printing

From a web page: If you need to print a graph, profile or content from the Proquote website you simply perform the task in the usual way, by using the menu toolbar and selecting "File" and "Print".

From a Proquote application: Only two applications can be printed directly, these being News, when shown in full news display; and Stocklist. Printing is performed by selecting "File" and "Print" in the application window.

To print the entire screen: Select the "Print Screen" button from your keyboard. Then you can open your favourite application and paste the image into it. Alternatively, you can perform a screen capture from a package such as Paint Shop Pro.

Minimum system requirements

Minimum system requirements are Pentium II PC, 128MB RAM, 1024x768 screen resolution with Internet dial-up capability and Internet access account. You will require Internet Explorer 5.x or later with a Microsoft® Java Virtual Machine.

Display

Proquote is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher. On Microsoft Windows® PCs, to change your screen resolution, right-click on the desktop, select Properties, Display, Appearance.

If you are unable to set screen resolution as high as 1024x768, the service can be used at a lower resolution. In this instance, to move windows into the viewable area right-click on the window's toolbar button, select "Move", then press the up-arrow until the required window appears.

Security

Proquote is registered under the Data Protection Act and we make all reasonable efforts to ensure the security and integrity of personal information supplied. Whilst logging in and service usage are encrypted, credit card details are held centrally and processed in a secure environment.

How do I backup my Proquote data?

Your personal Proquote data (system preferences, client accounts, stock list information, etc) is stored on your PC's hard disk, in a folder called pdsj (and sub-folders therein). The location of the pdsj folder is determined by your browser, and varies according to operating system. For example, Internet Explorer V5 running under Windows NT® V4 creates the pdsj folder in C:\WINNT\Java

If this data should become damaged or lost for any reason, you will need to either restore it from a backup, or re-enter it. We strongly recommend that for your own security, you regularly copy the pdsj folder and sub-folders to a backup device (such as another hard disk, floppy disk or tape device).

How do I restore default system settings?

If you move or delete the pdsj folder from your computer the system will initialise next time you log onto Proquote, i.e. system default settings will be restored. This means that all of your client accounts, stock lists, and user defined fields, etc will be lost. The location of the pdsj folder is determined by your browser, and varies according to operating system.

Can I copy my settings to another computer?

Having set up Proquote data on one computer you may take a backup copy, which you can then install onto another computer(s). This enables you to copy your office computer's Proquote settings onto your home computer, for example. Obviously, once installed on another computer the files will be completely independent, so updates to one set of files will not be reflected in the other set.

Can I set up a desktop shortcut?

For quick access to the Proquote system you can set up a desktop shortcut. This is easy to implement - simply access the Proquote login page using Internet Explorer, right-click on the background of the page, and select "Create shortcut". This will create a shortcut to the Proquote login page on your Windows desktop.

Why does the Proquote toolbar disappear unexpectedly?

This can happen if you ask Windows to display an HTML page (for example, by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer, or opening an email attachment) while you are logged on to Proquote. Windows will display the new page in the last browser window opened - this may well be the Proquote Toolbar! If the Proquote Toolbar is used to display another HTML page you will be disconnected from the Proquote system.
