 Title: Help and support: Example of stock list view formula

Before you try the example below, it may be useful for you to learn more about the origin of the fields chosen and to set the "User Defined Fields" if they are needed. For example, to evaluate the current value of shares held, the formula is Mid Price multiplied by the number of shares. The Mid Price is a data feed item, while Number of Shares is a user defined field.

So before you work on the formula you may be required to enter a user defined field into the spreadsheet, which means you need to perform this operation first. Click on the view button to see the related Proquote window:

Entering a user defined field

1 From the Proquote menu select "Start".

2 Select "Edit" button from "Select Stock List View" option and click on "Go".

3 The "Stock List View Editor" is shown.

4 Click on the "Add Column" button, choose the column position and click on "OK".

5 The "Add Column" box is shown. Enter the column heading in box, choosing a suitable name and click on "User Defined Field" button in the "Cell Content" column.

6 Click on "Cell Attributes" button.
7 Click on your desired attributes in "Attributes" window, selecting the correct numeric format if necessary.

8 Click on "OK" to apply attributes to the new column and "OK" again in the "Add Column" window.
9 Click on "OK" in the "Stock List View Editor" window.

Here's an example of how to enter a formula into a stock list:

1 From the Proquote menu select "Start".

4 Click on the "Add Column" button, choose a column position and click on "OK".

5 The "Add Column" box is shown. Enter the column heading in the box, choosing a suitable name and click on the "Formula" button in "Cell Content" column.

6 The drop down box is activated. Expand the box by clicking on the drop down list arrow at the right hand side and choose "new".
7 Click on "Formula Editor" button.

8 Enter a formula name in "Create Formula" box choosing a suitable name and click on "Next".

9 The "Cells Formula Editor" window is shown. In this window the formula is shown in the grey box to the base of the window as the components of the formula are being selected.

10 In the "Data Type" box click on the scroll arrow at the right hand side of the box and select "Data Feed Item". See the initial paragraph to this section.

11 The "Item/Field Name" box is activated and "Mid Price" selected from the scroll down menu.

12 In the "Operator" box select "multiply" from the drop down list.

13 A new line will appear below the original. This is used to select the second part of the formula.

14 In the "Data Type" box click on the scroll arrow at the right hand side of the box and select "User Defined Field". See the initial paragraph to this section.

15 The "Item/Field Name" box is activated and "Number of Shares" selected from the scroll down menu.

16 The grey box at the base of the window now shows the correct formula: Mid Price * Number of Shares. Click the "OK" button to execute this formula and "OK" again in "Add Column" window to apply to formula to the column.

17 The "Stock List Display" displays the new column and results.
